Fighting Today…Focused on the Future!
Today marks the 113th day of bargaining. This update will be more of a summary of our current position rather than a report on new developments, because there are simply no more new developments to report. Despite your committee’s continued efforts, it appears that the Company isn’t necessarily interested in reaching an agreement unless their terms remain the following:
No willingness to address solutions for employees to have access to jobs of the future or the return of contracted/outsourced work;
Increased cost share on Healthcare with drastic plan design changes;
No increase to the standard of living for the lowest paid titles in the agreement;
Retrogression in current core surplus language;
No significant changes in the current surplus language of Appendix F;
Additional changes in the scope of work for premises technicians;
No commitment to keeping employees working in this agreement.
Your demands and the committee’s goals remain:
Meaningful commitments to provide access to jobs of the future, the return of contracted/outsourced work, and a commitment to keeping employees working in this agreement;
Affordable healthcare while maintaining our current plan designs;
Increased standard of living for the lowest paid titles in the contract;
Retaining the current Premise Tech scope of work while seeking improved compensation for the work performed within that scope today;
Maintaining and improving surplus language for both core and all Appendix F employees;
Your bargaining team remains committed to reach a fair agreement, which moves our members forward. We also understand that bargaining requires two committed parties. We hope that as negotiations continue, the Company will have meaningful discussions about the issues that matter most to CWA members.
We realize that there have been several days between updates. But rest assured that the Bargaining Committee has been working every day to develop and present proposals that will result in an agreement that achieves the goals that you have said are most important.
Stay strong and Mobilize!
In Solidarity,
Your CWA District 4 Bargaining Team
