With children returning to school, drivers must slow down and pay attention to the children. This is extremely important before and after school. The following tips allow you to safely share the road with the children and school buses.
Share the Road with School Buses:
- When driving behind a school bus, allow more distance than if driving behind a car. This allows you more time to stop once the yellow lights start flashing.
- Never pass a bus from behind that is stopped to load or unload children; or from either direction if you’re on an undivided road.
- Traffic must stop when the yellow or red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
