CWA/AT&T Midwest Bargaining Report #31

April 11, 2018

Fighting Today…Focused on the Future!

The Union started the day off by reminding the Company that we are not going to go backwards in this contract!

We passed proposals rejecting a ton of take back proposals that AT&T had sent our way and proposed back to preserve Appendix A19 (Employment Security Commitment), Appendix A20 (Extended Employment Opportunity Period), Appendix A29 (Pooled Titles for Surplus), Appendix A30 (Additional Displacement Opportunities), Article 19 (Differentials) and Article 26 (Training and Employment Security), Letters regarding Mobility Retail Job Offers, and Carry Over Vacation. We also passed a memorandum concerning Stabilized Employment that would add work to our bargained for titles. We reached tentative agreements on Article 20 (Classification and Treatment of Regular Part-Time Employees), Appendix B1 (Job Duties) and the Appx G MOA.

The Union also passed a proposal on the main agreement of the Customer Operations Specialists contract.

The company today also rejected Union proposals on Appendix A12 (Customer Service Response Team), Appendix A18 (Overtime), and Appendix A25 (Regarding Required Overtime).

This afternoon, the Company graced us with a second proposal on Appendix A18 (Overtime) that no longer deleted that language. Their new overtime language eliminates all limits on overtime in all our states. Not much of an improvement….

On top of that overtime proposal from the Company, they also rejected nearly all the Union’s proposals to improve Appendix F and associated MOAs.

The respective committees also had a productive conversation this evening about the Union’s Employment Enhancement Proposal. We had proposed a list of work that we want moved or returned to the CWA bargaining unit. No agreements were reached, but we stressed again to the Company the need to bring work back in house!

We wanted to thank all the Locals who continue to mobilize and share their activities with the bargaining team through websites and social media. Today, a special shout out to all the Michigan Locals who took to the streets in the state capitol of Lansing to picket outside of AT&T Michigan’s headquarters.

Your activities do matter – the Company does notice!

So, make some noise, rattle some cages…. tomorrow just keep saying ‘tick, tock, tick, tock’ in front of every manager you see!

3 Days Until Expiration! Mobilize!!!!

In Solidarity,

Your CWA District 4 Bargaining Team
